term 1 - Marvellous me

In Reception, our first topic is Marvellous Me! This is a wonderful opportunity for the children to learn more about themselves, their families, and their friends. We celebrate what makes each of us unique and special.

• All About Me – Talking about our names, families, likes and dislikes, and what makes us special.

• Our Bodies – Learning about our senses, body parts, and how we keep healthy.

• Feelings & Friendships – Exploring emotions, kindness, and what makes a good friend.

• Belonging – Celebrating our families, traditions, and the things that connect us to our community.

Term 2 - Let's celebrate

Let’s Celebrate helps children learn about different celebrations, traditions and events from around the world. Children explore festivals such as birthdays, harvest, Diwali and Christmas, developing respect and curiosity about diversity. They enjoy storytelling, music, art and cooking activities while learning to express ideas and work collaboratively.

• Celebrations & Traditions – Learning about special events, festivals and celebrations from different cultures and religions.
• Respect & Diversity – Exploring similarities and differences and learning to respect others’ beliefs and traditions.
• Sharing & Cooperation – Taking part in group activities, parties and role play that encourage teamwork.
• Creative Expression – Using music, art, dance and storytelling to celebrate special occasions.
