Information for parents
Welcome to Reception
This is an important year as your child will continue to develop their independence as well as their social and emotional skills. We will also teach your child to read, write and work with numbers. Most importantly, your child will come to school and have fun learning about and making new friendships.

Getting Ready for Reception – A Guide for Parents
Starting school is a big step, and every child develops at their own pace. The Starting Reception website offers helpful guidance for nursery and reception parents to support their child in becoming 'reception ready'. It outlines key skills that schools typically expect children to be working on before their first day. Practising these skills can help ensure a smoother, more positive start to school life.

PE
Chestnuts: Every Tuesday
Oaks: Every Tuesday
Please send your child to school on their designated PE day wearing their PE kits. On these days, if your child has long hair, please tie it back and earrings are taken out or covered on those days.
Home Learning
Home learning in Reception is designed to be simple, enjoyable and supportive of your child’s development. All home learning activities will be shared via ClassDojo, and we ask that any work or photos are submitted there so we can celebrate your child’s efforts and progress.
A key part of home learning is reading together every day for at least 10 minutes this makes a huge difference to children’s language, confidence and love of books. Alongside reading, everyday activities such as talking, playing, counting and practising name writing are highly valuable.
