Although we are learning phonics throughout the year, in the summer term, we start to prepare the children for reading and writing in reception using phonics. Phonics uses the sound the letter makes in the word rather than the name of the letter. If you would like to help your child at home with this, for example by playing 'I Spy', please watch the video below to help you say the sound for each letter of the alphabet.
