Autumn term 1 Learning 2024
What a great start to the new academic year Saplings have had. The children have settled into their classes extremely well.
In Saplings 1, the children have been exploring and discussing the word 'hole'. In the first week, we had a hole appear in our circle time carpet, and we looked at what creatures we might find in or around a hole. In the second week, we went outside to dig holes in the soil and put creatures inside.
The word 'hole' is in connection to our class story text 'The Something'.
In Saplings 2, the children wrote predictions about their text 'Rhythm of the rain'. They did not see the front cover but listened to sounds of water. They also learnt about how to write 'kenning poems'. First, they choose a topic to practice writing a kenning poem, and then they transferred those skills to write a poem that describes a waterfall.
