Summer term Learning 2024
Saplings 1
In Saplings 1, the children have been enjoying the story 'The King Who Banned the Dark' by Emily Haworth-Booth. The children enjoyed exploring objects linked to the dark to predict what our story was about. Recently, they worked on their 'persuasion' skills whilst role playing in circle time. They either pretended to be the king saying why the dark should be banned or pretended to be from the town, giving reasons why they need the dark.
In maths, children have been looking at the key vocabulary, 'groups of, lots of and equal to'. They have been using a range of objects to put into groups, making sure they have the right amount of groups and the correct number of objects in each group.
Saplings 2
The children enjoyed preparing tie-dyed t-shirts for our '70's day' on Monday 17th June in celebration of Earlsmead school being open 50 years. The children chose their own colours and then enjoyed wearing them on the day. Our focus was fashion in the 70's and the children looked at different styles for children, men and women.
